What is the role of mental processes in humans for the research of Pavolv. I found the spot in the book talking about that, but I didn't know exactly what you wanted us to know about that?
In class I talked about the fact that research supports the idea that cognition appears to "mediate" classical conditioning in humans. That means that humans understand the relationship that is being conditioned. This awareness allows humans to "override" the effects of conditioning, in essence saying, "I am not going to let this effect me."
This is essentially what the text says on the bottom of page 20 and the top of 21.
