I Believe
I believe that to be a great teacher, you have to think like your students. Take a look from their perspectives, relate to them. The lessons have to fit the students' needs and understanding. Then, they will get the most out of the lessons of the teacher. Each student is different and the teacher must realize that they can't treat the class as a whole, but as individual students with different ideas and styles of learning. Each generation is different; the student's generation experienced different things and views the world differently than that of the teacher. However, the teacher is the students' window into the previous generation that they too have to relate to to survive in life. Mainly, I believe that the teacher can not separate themselves from their students, believing that they are better and more superior to their students. It is easier for students to show respect to a teacher that respects them as individuals. Teaching is a learning experience of itself. Many times the teacher has just as much to learn as the students themselves.
