This I believe...

I believe that teachers need to teach something that interests them so that they can make it interesting for their students. But I believe more importantly that teachers need to teach their students how to think and to think for themselves. The greatest teachers I have had taught me more than just math or science but taught me how to think and taught me how to improve my life. I believe teachers need to be available for students at all times. I believe that teachers are one of the greatest mentors children have and that teachers have one of the strongest impacts on their students. I think that teachers are under rated and seen as given an easy job with summers off and holiday vacations. When truly I have never met a teacher who said that their job was easy.

I fully support the statement that talks about the importance of forming students into being critical thinkers. Almost any student is able to memorize the words on a page, but when one is able to apply material directly to one's life and analyze information it shows that one is becoming an active thinker. Students need to be able to think for themselves in order to become an intelligent participant in the world we live in.

I agree with Tara that teachers need to like what there are teaching so they are able to make the learning for the students more enjoyable and intersting. I agree that teachers can be great mentors for kids. After all, kids do spend a great amount of time with thier teachers.
